Compensation: 2024 pay rate $30.85 - $34.88/hr. ($64,168 -$72,550/yr.)

                         2025 pay rate $31.78 - $35.93/hr. ($66,102 - $74,734/yr.)

                         Longevity steps at year 3, 4, 5, 10,15, 20, 25, & 30


                *** Bonus incentive of a Kevlar Canoe package ($3,800 value) at hire. ***

(Officers that leave employment prior to (3) three years of service will have to pay back all or a portion of the $3,800 canoe package.)

The Ely Police Department consists of 7 fulltime officers and 1 administrative assistant.  Officer's work four consecutive 12-hour shifts, followed by four days off. The 2024 pay range is $30.85 - $34.88, with 4%-night shift differential, and excellent benefits.

Applicants must be P.O.S.T. licensed or eligible for licensing at the time of hire.  Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, possess a valid MN driver’s license, pass a background check, physical fitness exam, and psychologic examination prior to appointment.  To be considered, you must submit a City of Ely application.  Lateral transfers are encouraged to apply; pay and benefits may be evaluated based on years of service and experience.
