May 20th, 2026 BOA Conditional Use Permit Public Hearing - 751 N Pioneer Rd

The Ely Board of Adjustment will be holding a public hearing for considering a Conditional Use Permit on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 at 5:00 pm in the City Hall council chambers.  At this public hearing the Board of Adjustment will be considering the approval of a Conditional Use Permit Application submitted by Kelly Klun and Tanner Spawn, on behalf of KK & PI LLC; proposed location of 751 N Pioneer Rd, Parcel #030-0500-00211. The applicant is seeking a Conditional Use Permit to allow a boathouse (up to 400 Sq. Ft) be built close to the Shoreline of the property (at least 10 feet back from the Original High-Water Mark). The property is zoned Residential (R1), “Boathouses” are allowed by Conditional Use Permit Only, per Shoreland Ordinance 11.42; Subd. (2)(D). 

Public comment will be heard on the date of the hearing and/or may be submitted to any of the following addresses below on or before May 18th to be included in the public hearing. Names and addresses must be submitted in order for comments to be recorded into the hearing minutes. May 20th, 2026 BOA Variance Public Hearing - 303 E Sheridan St

The Ely Board of Adjustment will be holding a public hearing for considering a Variance on Wednesday, May 20th at 5:15 pm in the City Hall council chambers.  At this public hearing the Board of Adjustment will be considering the approval of a Variance Application submitted by Jacki Bregier-Poshak, representing Eagle Wolf Development. Proposed locations include 303 E Sheridan St, 328 E Camp St, and 336 E Camp St, Parcel#030-0370-00090, 030-0370-00070, 030-370-00010, 030-370-00800, and 030-0010-00900. The applicant is seeking a Variance to allow for a 6-foot-high fence on the Sheridan St, N 3rd Ave E, and Camp St side of the parcels. City code (11.04) restricts fence heights along streets and avenues to a maximum of 4 feet, and a maximum of 6 feet elsewhere. The applicant is also seeking a variance from the 18” set-back requirement from the right-of-way line, to allow the fences be constructed on the public right of way property line, at all locations.

May 26, 2026 Study Session - Comprehensive Plan

The Ely City Council has scheduled a Study Session on Tuesday, May 26th at 6:30pm at Ely City Hall in the Council Chambers.

The Study Session will be a joint meeting with the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee to discuss the City’s vision for the Comprehensive Plan update and how the council wants to move forward.
