Planning and Zoning promotes and regulates development, tax base diversity and orderly and efficient community growth. Staff also reviews zoning requests, conditional use permits, variances, proposed subdivisions and annexations.

All of our permit applications are online as well.

The City of Ely now has its zoning map incorporated with the St. Louis County Land Explorer App. The map can be accessed at https://gis.stlouiscountymn.gov/landexplorer/

To access the zoning map, click the tab in the upper right corner labeled "Cedastral", and this will give you the option to click on "Zoning and Land Use". The map is intended to be used as a guide, please confirm all zoning designations with the City of Ely Planning and Zoning Department at 218-365-3224 Ext 3.
